China, South Korea, Denmark and Indonesia have advanced to the semifinals of the Sudirin Cup badminton tournament in Beijing.
Host country China is looking to regain the mixed team title it lost two years ago and crushed Hong Kong, 5-0. In the other Group-1B match, Indonesia defeated Sweden, 4-1.
Earlier, defending champion South Korea scored a 5-0 win over England and Denmark defeated Thailand, 4-1 in Group-1A matches. Denmark plays South Korea Thursday for the group title with the runner-up expected to meet China in the semifinals. The Chinese take on Indonesia Thursday for the Group-1B lead.
Only the eight teams in Elite Group-1, which is split into two groups of four, have a chance to win the biennial tournament. Thirty-three other teams are competing for promotion into a higher division.
