Savoldelli Wins Giro's 11th stage; Basso Overall Leader

Italian cyclist Paolo Savoldelli has won the 11th stage of the Tour of Italy in a sprint finish, but Ivan Basso has taken the overall leader's pink jersey.

Savoldelli edged Basso at the finish line, with both riders credited with the same time of 4:13:43 hours for the 150-kilometer stage.

Basso's finish propelled him into the overall lead, 18 seconds ahead of Savoldelli. Former overall leader Danilo Di Luca of Italy is third overall, more than 1:00 behind the leader.

Friday's 12th stage covers 178 kilometers and includes a climb up the tough Passo di San Pellegino, but then travels downhill for the rest of the stage. The Tour ends in Milan May 29.
