Hedblom Leads BMW Championship Golf

Swedish golfer Peter Hedblom birdied seven of the last 11 holes to take a three-stroke lead after the second round of the European golf tour's BMW Championship in Virginia Water, England.

Hedblom is 11-under-par 133 for two rounds, three strokes ahead of Ireland's Paul McGinley, who held the lead for part of the day at 8-under-par 136. Australian Nick O'Hern is in third place, four strokes off the leader after shooting a 3-under-par, 69 Friday.

Sweden's Peter Hanson and Padraig Harrington of Ireland are tied for fourth at 6-under-par 138. Hanson had a 3-under-par 69 while Harrington fired a 4-under-par 68 on the Wentworth Club Course.

Former British Open winner Ben Curtis of the United States shot a 1-under-par 71 and is part of a large group of golfers tied for sixth place at 5-under-par, 139.

Reigning U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen of South Africa is seven strokes off the lead at 4-under-par 140 after shooting a second straight round of 2-under-par 70.

The tournament is being played on the Wentworth Club's West Course, a par 72-layout that measures 6,466 meters. The winner of this event takes home more than $834,000.
