A major alpine tunnel linking France and Italy will remain closed indefinitely, following a deadly truck fire.
Officials said Sunday that it could take months to repair damage to the 13-kilometer Frejus tunnel linking Lyon and Turin.
The officials said a truck from France caught fire in the tunnel Saturday, spreading to several other vehicles and killing two truck drivers, believed to be from Slovenia.
A similar fire in the nearby Mont Blanc tunnel in 1999 claimed the lives of 39 people.
Officials said it was unclear whether the tunnel will be back in service in time for the Winter Olympics in Turin.
