Woods Leads British Open Headed into Final Round


World number one golfer Tiger Woods of the United States has a two-stroke lead over former Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal of Spain after the third round of the British Open golf tournament in Saint Andrews, Scotland.

Woods shot a 1-under-par, 71 in the third round and is 12-under-par, 204 for the tournament. The American dropped two shots on the front nine of the Old Course, but was able to recover before the round ended.

Olazabal had a 4-under-par, 68 in the third round and is 10-under-par, 206 for the tournament.

Former U.S. Open winner Retief Goosen of South Africa shot a 6-under-par, 66 and is in a tie for third with local favorite Colin Montgomerie of Scotland, three strokes off the lead at 9-under-par, 207. Montgomerie shot a 2-under-par, 70 in the third round.

Spain's Sergio Garcia and American Brad Faxon are tied for fifth place at 8-under-par, 208. U.S. Open champion Michael Campbell of New Zealand is tied with world number two Vijay Singh of Fiji at 7-under-par, 209.
