London Police Kill Man, Arrest Another as Search Continues for Bombing Suspects

Police in London shot and killed a man and took another into custody Friday as they continued their search for suspects in the latest attacks on the city's transit system.

The fatal shooting took place Friday at the Stockwell subway station, just one stop away from where one of four explosions occurred the day before. Witnesses said a man wearing a thick, padded coat was chased by police, tackled to the ground and shot dead.

Authorities said the shooting was directly linked to the ongoing investigation into Thursday's attacks. Hours after the incident, they arrested another man not far from the station.

Police have released surveillance photos of four men accused of trying to detonate bombs at separate locations throughout the city.

The bombs did not work properly and caused no major injuries. Authorities said the failed attack appeared to be patterned after the July seventh bombings that killed 56 people.
