Bart Bryant Wins PGA Tour Championship in Atlanta

American golfer Bart Bryant held off world number one Tiger Woods to win the season-ending PGA Tour Championship in Atlanta, Georgia for the top 30 money winners.

Bryant remained steady in the final round Sunday, carding a 3-under-par 67 for a 17-under total of 263. Woods made three quick birdies midway in his round, but his rally fell short by six shots. Fellow American Scott Verplank was third at 9-under-par 271.

Defending champion Retief Goosen of South Africa settled for a fourth-place tie with Vijay Singh of Fiji and American Davis Love, all 10 shots off the pace.

The 42-year-old Bryant now has his third victory in the past 13 months. Previously, he had not won an event on the PGA Tour.
