A strike by South Korean pilots for Korean Air entered a third day Saturday, with government leaders threatening to invoke emergency powers to cut short the walkout.
South Korea's Yonhap news agency says the airline was forced to cancel nearly 70 percent of flights Saturday, after hundreds of pilots continued to strike. Pilots walked off the job Thursday after negotiations over higher wages broke down.
Friday, the pilots' union resumed negotiations with Korean Air management, but no major breakthrough was reported. A Korean Air spokesman told the French news agency AFP the two sides agreed to meet again later Saturday.
South Korean officials have said they are considering invoking the government's rarely-used right to arbitrate to end the strike. In August, the government used its emergency powers to end a 25-day strike by pilots at the much smaller Asiana Airlines.
