Former US President Gerald Ford Hospitalized With Pneumonia


Former United States president Gerald Ford has been hospitalized in California for treatment of pneumonia.

Mr. Ford's chief of staff announced Monday that the 92-year-old had been taken Saturday to Eisenhower Medical Center near his home in Rancho Mirage, about 145 kilometers East of Los Angeles.

The aide, Penny Circle, said Mr. Ford was being treated with intravenous antibiotics, was doing well and resting comfortably.

Mr. Ford was sworn in as president in August of 1974. He completed the term of Richard Nixon who resigned amid the Watergate scandal. Mr. Ford lost the 1976 election to Jimmy Carter.
