Court Orders Suspect in Failed London Bombings Held in Prison

A British court has ordered a 27-year-old man, charged in connection with the failed July 21 bombings in the London transit system, held in prison.

Muhedin Ali is accused of helping one of the suspected attackers (Hussein Osman) evade arrest during the days after the attempted bombings. A judge in London's Bow Street Magistrates Court ordered Ali held until his next hearing February 10.

Terrorists tried to set off bombs on three London subway trains and a bus, but the devices failed to explode.

Ali is the latest of 17 persons charged in the case. Five of them are to go on trial in September.

The failed attacks came two weeks after four bombers set off explosives on London subway trains and a bus, killing themselves and 52 others.
