Egypt's national football (soccer) team has defeated Ivory Coast, 4-2, in a penalty shootout to win an unprecedented fifth African Cup of Nations title.
The game was scoreless through regulation and extra time. Essam Al Hadary made two saves in the penalty shoot-out to give the host country the win.
Ahmed Hassan, Mohamed Abdelwahab, Amr Zaki, and Mohamed Aboutrika scored for Egypt in the shoot-out. Emmanuel Eboue and Kolo Toure scored for Ivory Coast.Some information for this report was provided by AFP and Reuters.
