A Dutch court has convicted nine Islamist militants of membership in a terrorist organization, and has sentenced them to terms of up to 15 years in prison.
Amsterdam's high security court handed down the verdict Friday.
Prosecutors say the men were members of the so-called Hofstad group. During the trial, which began in December, prosecutors identified four key members of the group who they said were ready to die and wanted to inspire and recruit others.
The alleged leader of the group, Mohammed Bouyeri, was convicted in July of 2005 and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh in November 2004.
Prosecutors had demanded sentences of up to 20 years for the nine.
