Tennis: Davenport, Sharapova and Hingis Win in 2nd Round of Pacific Life Open

Tennis stars Lindsay Davenport, Maria Sharapova and Martina Hingis scored dominating wins in the second round of the Pacific Life Open Friday in Indian Wells, California.

Second-seeded Davenport needed just 53 minutes to crush fellow-American Ashley Harkleroad 6-0, 6-0. Sharapova of Russia also had an easy time during her 6-4, 6-3 victory over American Jamea Jackson. And Swiss star Hingis continued her impressive comeback from a three-year layoff by defeating France's Camille Pin 6-1, 6-3.

The tournament was delayed for several hours by rain. The players then had to contend with cold and windy conditions after play resumed.

On the men's side, former world number one Marat Safin beat Amer Delic of the United States 6-3, 6-4, as the Russian attempts a comeback from a knee injury. British teen sensation Andy Murray also advanced in first-round action with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Vasilis Mazarakis of Greece.
