Talks resumed in Vienna Friday between Serbian and ethnic Albanian officials over the future of Kosovo.
The two sides are meeting for a second round of talks mediated by the United Nations, which has administered Kosovo since 1999 when NATO launched air strikes to end a brutal crackdown by the late Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic on ethnic Albanians.
Kosovo's ethnic Albanians, who make up 90 percent of Kosovo's population, are calling for full independence from Serbia. But Serbia says Kosovo is a crucial part of national identity, and wants to create a Serbian entity within the province with special ties to Belgrade.
Friday's talks are to focus on giving minority Serbs more of a say in local affairs.
The Serbian delegation has lodged a complaint with U.N. officials over the presence of Albanian delegation chief Hashim Thaci, who Serbs say committed war crimes as leader of the rebel forces.
