Bomb Blast in Pakistan Kills One, Wounds 15

Pakistani authorities say a bomb blast in the northwestern city of Peshawar has killed one person and wounded at least 15 others.

The authorities say the bomb, attached to a motorcycle parked in a crowded bazaar in the city center, went off just hours after the U.S. consulate was temporarily closed following a threat.

Police say it seems the place where the blast occurred was not the target, and that the attacker was transporting the bomb.

A spokeswoman for the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad says its consulate in Peshawar has been closed until further notice after receiving a "specific and credible" threat.

She says U.S. and Pakistani authorities are working to coordinate increased security measures around the U.S. diplomatic mission.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters.
