2 British Troops Wounded in Afghanistan Suicide Bomb Attack

Police in Afghanistan say a suicide bomber has blown himself up near British troops in southern Afghanistan, wounding at least two British soldiers.

Police say the attack occurred early Friday, near a British base in Lashkargah, the capital of southern Helmand province.

A British military vehicle was damaged in the attack.

British personnel operate a so-called provincial reconstruction team in Helmand, but are set to expand their presence later this year in the volatile southern province.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters.
