NHL Hockey: Ducks Beat Flames 3-0

The Anaheim Mighty Ducks beat the Calgary Flames 3-0 Wednesday in the seventh and deciding game of their first-round National Hockey League playoff series.

Teemu Selanne and Ruslan Salei scored Anaheim's first goals in the second period, while goalie Ilya Bryzgalov made 22 saves as the Mighty Ducks advanced to the second round of the playoffs. Jeff Friesen scored an empty-net goal late in the third period to ice the upset victory.

Anaheim's win guaranteed a first-round sweep of the top four teams in the Western Conference by their lower ranked opponents. Eighth-seeded Edmonton downed the Detroit Red Wings, number seven Colorado beat the Dallas Stars and fifth-seeded San Jose beat the Nashville Predators.

Anaheim now goes on to face Colorado in their second-round series, which begins Friday.
