Five Philippine legislators accused of plotting a coup against the president have emerged from the Congress building where they took refuge more than two months ago.
Hundreds of supporters cheered the left-wing lawmakers Monday as they walked out of the House of Representatives after a 70-day standoff with the government.
The five hid in the building to avoid being taken into custody for their alleged role in a failed plot in February to overthrow President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
On Thursday, a court dismissed rebellion charges against them on technical grounds.
The government says it does not rule out refiling a case against the lawmakers.
