A police bomb squad in suburban Stockholm has removed a suspected bomb strapped to a man who said he was abducted and forced to wear a remote-control explosives device.
Late Sunday, police had not said if the device was indeed a bomb.
Earlier, officers evacuated buildings and blocked off streets, when the man, described as in his late 20s, claimed he was kidnapped three days ago and forced to wear the device. He said he had escaped from an apartment earlier in the day.
The rig strapped to the man's waist, was removed after six hours. Police said it was taken to a safe area to be detonated.
Authorities were questioning the man late Sunday. Some information for this report was provided by AP and Reuters.
