Pakistani officials say government troops backed by helicopter gunships have killed at least 23 rebel tribesmen in an offensive in the restive southwestern province of Baluchistan.
Authorities said Sunday the operation began late Saturday and continued until early Sunday near Dera Bugti.
At least 15 rebels were wounded. There were no reports of casualties among government forces.
Security forces destroyed seven rebel strongholds.
Last Wednesday, paramilitary forces attacked another militant hideout in the same area and killed at least 25 rebels.
The militants have been using the hideouts as a base for attacks on government installations in the area.
Baluch tribesmen want the government to roll back plans to establish military garrisons in the province.
