Israeli Forces Kill Three in Gaza Refugee Camp

update

Israeli forces have killed three Palestinians Thursday as they pressed on with a three-week offensive in the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian officials say Israeli air strikes on the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza killed two people today. Another Palestinian was killed during fighting between Israel and militants in the camp.

At least 100 Palestinians have been killed since Israel's Gaza offensive began in late June.

At United Nations headquarters in New York today, Secretary-General Kofi Annan called for an immediate ceasefire in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He said the international community must address the Israeli-Palestinian issue boldly.

Israel began its offensive in Gaza after militants captured an Israeli soldier (Corporal Gilad Shalit) in a cross-border raid. It says it will continue the operation until the soldier is released and Palestinian militants stop firing rockets at Israel from Gaza.
