Three Muslim Separatists Killed, Five Civilians Wounded in Indian Kashmir

update

The Indian army says its troops have killed three suspected Muslim separatists who sneaked into Indian Kashmir from Pakistan.

An army spokesman, Colonel Hemant Joneja, says troops intercepted and killed the three infiltrators Tuesday along the de facto border known as the Line of Control.

India accuses Pakistan of arming and funding the militants in their fight against Indian rule in Kashmir. Pakistan denies the charge and says it is doing everything possible to stop the infiltrations.

In a separate incident, suspected rebels hurled a grenade at a bus stand in Narbal, wounding at least five civilians.

Muslim separatists have been fighting for Kashmir's independence or its merger with Pakistan since 1989. Tens of thousands of people have been killed in the conflict.
