Defeated Mexican presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador says he will continue his fight for a full recount of votes cast in the July 2 election.
Speaking to tens of thousands of supporters in the Mexican capital, Lopez Obrador called for a new demonstration Monday, outside the top electoral court that has rejected a full recount.
Instead, the court judges ordered recounts at nearly 12,000 polling places, representing about nine percent of voting sites across the country.
The move was applauded by supporters of Felipe Calderon, who won the election by little more than half a percent of the votes cast.
For the past week, supporters of Lopez Obrador have camped on a main thoroughfare in Mexico City, paralyzing traffic.
The nation's top electoral court has until September sixth to rule on the challenges and officially announce the winner of the election.
