Poland's Artur Noga Wins 110-Meter Hurdles

Artur Noga has claimed Poland's first gold medal at the World Junior Athletics Championships in Beijing by winning the men's 110-meter hurdles in a meet record time.

The 18-year-old Noga broke the tape in 13.23 seconds on Sunday's final day of the meet, breaking the previous record he set in Saturday's semifinals.

In other men's results, Benjamin Compaore of France won gold in the triple-jump with a leap of 16.61 meters. Tariku Bekele took the 5,000 meters in 13:31.34. The United States captured the men's 4x400-meter relay (3:03.76) while Jamaica took the title in the 4x100-meters (39.05).

In women's events, Irene Jelagat of Kenya earned 1,500 meters gold in 4:08:88. Svetlana Radzivil of Uzbekistan leapt 1.91 meters for the high-jump gold, and Dani Samuels of Australia won the gold in the discus throw with a toss of 60.63 meters.

The United States captured the 4x400-meter relay (3:29.01) and the 4x100-meters (43.49).

Host China won the most medals at the meet with 17, two more than second-placed Kenya.
