A London-based auctioneer says a desk and chair that belonged to Adolf Hitler are up for auction, and could fetch as much as $1 million.
Minas Katchadorian says the oak pieces come from Hitler's luxury apartment in Munich. They were commissioned by a wealthy publisher and Nazi supporter, and delivered to Hitler's apartment in 1929.
When Munich fell to the Allies in 1945, the pieces were used by the U.S. Army after soldiers converted the apartment into a command post.
Katchadorian says the pieces are being sold by a private American collector who wants to remain anonymous. He said the American acquired the pieces in the 1970s from the U.S. government, which had seized them in 1945.
Later this month, a British auction house plans to sell 21 artworks attributed to the infamous Nazi leader.
