The U.S. military says a U.S. Air Force officer who disappeared earlier this week in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek has been found.
Officials have not released details about what happened to Major Jill Metzger. Authorities say they are investigating her disappearance and where she has been since she was last seen Tuesday.
On Thursday, Kyrgyz Interior Minister Murat Sutalinov suggested Metzger may not have been kidnapped, as initially reported. He said Metzger was seen shortly after her disappearance and made a telephone call.
Major Metzger, unarmed and dressed in civilian clothes, disappeared while shopping with a group of military members in the capital. She was scheduled to return to the United States later this week.
