Brazil Remains at Top of Monthly World Football Rankings


Five-time World Cup champion Brazil remains at the top of the monthly world football rankings, while France, England and the Czech Republic have moved up.

In rankings released by football's world governing body, FIFA, on Wednesday, France moved up from number-four to number two in the world. Argentina held steady at number three, England moved up one spot to number four, but Italy dropped three places to number-five.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands remain in sixth place, followed by the Czech Republic, which moved up three spots. Germany is eighth after trading places with number-nine Portugal, while Spain fell three places to round out the top-10.

The United States continued to drop in the rankings, falling from number-23 to 29th place.
