Hurricane Paul Weakens Off Western Mexico

update

Weather forecasters say Hurricane Paul has weakened to a category one storm some 680 kilometers from the Mexico's coastal resort town of Cabo San Lucas.

Forecasters say Paul is still heading toward Mexico's Baja California peninsula, but in recent hours its maximum sustained winds have fell to about 150 kilometers per hour.

A hurricane watch remains in effect for the southern part of the Baja peninsula, which could get hit by the storm late Tuesday. Paul is expected to come ashore in western coastal Mexico on Wednesday.

Two Pacific hurricanes made landfall in Mexico last month.
