NBA: Heat Hit 3-Point Buzzer-Beater to Down Grizzlies

The defending National Basketball Association champion Miami Heat clipped the Memphis Grizzlies on a three-point shot at the buzzer late Saturday.

Miami's James Posey took an inbounds pass and hit the winning shot from eight meters to beat the host Grizzlies, 98-97.

Utah's Mehmet Okur hit a three-point shot with less than two seconds on the clock to give the host Jazz a 109-107 win over the Seattle SuperSonics.

New Jersey's Vince Carter scored a season-high 41 points in the Nets 112-107 victory over the visiting Philadelphia 76ers. Allen Iverson scored 37 points in a losing cause.

Denver's Carmelo Anthony scored a season-high 38 points, and J.R. Smith hit five three-point shots to lift the Nuggets over the Indiana Pacers, 121-101.

The Toronto Raptors got by the New York Knicks, 103-100. The San Antonio Spurs tripped up the Sacramento Kings, 100-98. The Houston Rockets thumped the Cleveland Cavaliers, 81-63.

The Chicago Bulls handed the Washington Wizards their franchise record eighth straight road loss to start a season in a 112-94 decision. The Milwaukee Bucks downed the Golden State Warriors, 115-110. And, the Los Angeles Lakers used Kobe Bryant's 29 points to beat the Los Angeles Clippers, 97-88.
