NBA: Randolph High Scorer as Trail Blazers Edge Pistons

Zach Randolph scored 31 points to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to an 88-85 win over the Detroit Pistons in Tuesday's slate of games in the National Basketball Association.

Randolph's scoring output included a jump shot with 21 seconds left in regulation that sealed Portland's upset victory. The win ended the Trail Blazers' five-game losing streak, while the Pistons have lost two consecutive games, following an eight-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks trounced the slumping New Jersey Nets 92-75. Dirk Nowitzki scored 26 points for Dallas, while teammate Josh Howard added 23 points. Vince Carter scored 20 points for the Nets, who have now lost seven of their last nine games.

Tuesday's other winners in the NBA included Phoenix, Houston, Seattle and the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Phoenix Suns routed the Sacramento Kings 127-102 for their seventh straight win. Leandro Barbosa scored 26 points, while Steve Nash dished out a season-high 20 assists. Houston's Tracy McGrady scored 31 points, and teammate Yao Ming added 27 more, in the Rockets' dominating 118-90 win over the Golden State Warriors.

The Seattle SuperSonics downed the Atlanta Hawks 102-87, as Rashard Lewis scored 29 points. And the Los Angeles Clippers edged the Miami Heat 101-97, with Elton Brand leading the Clippers with 33 points and 17 rebounds.
