Officials in Benin say legislative elections will now be held Saturday after they were postponed earlier this week.
Officials said organizational problems caused them to postpone the election originally scheduled for last Sunday, March 25. The officials said ballots were not ready, voting equipment needed to be transported to polling places and election workers had not been trained.
The elections in the West African nation are crucial for President Thomas Yayi Boni, a banker who won the presidential vote last year promising to wipe out corruption and bring about economic growth.
Some four million voters in the country will elect 83 members of the legislature.
