Indian officials have increased security around the New Delhi residence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday after a man shot himself in an apparent suicide attempt nearby.
Indian officials say the incident had nothing to do with the prime minister, who was not home at the time.
The shooter was reportedly distraught over marital problems. Indian authorities say he apparently shot himself in his car, then sought medical help. He has been hospitalized.
