Torrential rains in Texas have flooded several towns and left at least four people dead - including two young girls, ages four and five.
Officials say more than 20 centimeters of rain late Sunday and early Monday flooded parts of the towns of Gainesville and Sherman in north Texas.
Rescue workers in boats went through neighborhoods Monday to pick up flood victims stranded on their rooftops.
The four-year-old girl died after she was swept away by water currents as firefighters tried to rescue her and her mother.
A Gainesville judge said 300 people were in temporary shelters in the area.
