Justin Timberlake and Beyonce lead the list of nominees for the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards with seven apiece.
Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" was nominated for Video of the Year, along with Justin Timberlake's "What Goes Around...Comes Around," which featured actress Scarlett Johansson.
Also nominated in this category are "Rehab" from Amy Winehouse; Kanye West's "Stronger"; "Umbrella" from Rihanna and Jay-Z; and "D.A.N.C.E.," by French duo Justice.
Justin Timberlake also competes in the Male Artist of the Year and "Most Earth-Shattering Collaboration" for "Sexy Back" featuring Timbaland.
Beyonce is in the running for Female Artist of the Year and for her collaboration with Shakira on "Beautiful Liar." Nipping at their heels are Kanye West and Rihanna, with five nominations apiece. Amy Winehouse - whose "Back To Black" album was her second but her first released in the United States - netted three nominations, including Best New Artist.
She competes against fellow U.K. singer Lily Allen; former American Idol winner Carrie Underwood; rap act Gym Class Heroes; and Swedish pop-rock trio Peter Bjorn & John.
The 24th annual VMAs will be handed out September 9 at the Palms Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Scheduled performers include Kanye West, Fall Out Boy, Amy Winehouse, Chris Brown, the Foo Fighters, and Rihanna.
Timbaland will serve as "maestro" for the evening, booking the acts. "By me being maestro," he said, "I am the show."
