Former European champion Poland has become the final team to advance to the finals of the World Grand Prix women's volleyball tournament in Osaka, Japan.
Poland defeated Kazakhstan 3-1 (25-27, 25-20, 25-23, 25-15) in their best-of-five match Sunday to join defending champion Brazil, world champion Russia, Italy, the Netherlands and China in the finals. The finals will be staged in Ningbo, China from August 22 through the 26.
Twelve teams played in the tournament's three qualifying rounds, with the top five teams and host China advancing to the finals.
In the other Group-G match Sunday, Russia rallied from one game down to beat Japan, 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-19),
In Group H play in Taiwan Sunday, the Dominican Republic beat Taiwan, 3-0, while Italy topped Brazil, 3-1.
In Group I matches played in Macau, the Netherlands defeated the United States, 3-1 and Cuba knocked off China, 3-1.
