The West Indies cricket team, which had threatened to call off a planned Zimbabwe tour due to concern about the safety of its players, arrived in Harare on Tuesday to begin a series of five one-day internationals in the capital and Bulawayo.
Zimbabwe Cricket hosted a welcoming banquet for the West Indies side Wednesday ahead of the first match in the series, set for Harare Sports Club on Friday.
Cricket commentator Brian Goredema told VOA’s reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that there are concerns the first match could be rained out as Harare has been experiencing some heavy rains.
