In National Basketball Association action Wednesday night, Cleveland star LeBron James sprained his index finger and had to sit out the second half of his team's 109-74 loss to the Detroit Pistons.
James had 15 points and three assists in the game before injuring his finger.
Richard Hamilton led Detroit with 18 points. The Pistons lead Cleveland in the Eastern Conference Central Division by one game.
Meanwhile, the defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs scored a 109-94 win over the Washington Wizards. Tony Parker had 19 points and 11 assists while Manu Ginobili added 19 for the Spurs, who lead the Western Conference Southwest division with 13 wins and three losses.
In other games, Yao Ming had 31 points as the Houston Rockets beat Phoenix, 100-94. The Utah Jazz topped Philadelphia, 106-95, Atlanta defeated Milwaukee, 96-80, and Toronto downed Memphis, 103-91.
Dallas beat Minnesota, 109-103, Golden State downed Sacramento, 103-96, Orlando defeated Seattle, 110-94, and Indiana beat Portland, 95-89.
