In the National Basketball Association, the Phoenix Suns have introduced newly-acquired center Shaquille O'Neal, just one day after completing a trade that brought the former All-Star from Miami.
O'Neal told reporters that he looks forward to making everyone better. He said he hopes to be the man to help ignite Phoenix's fast break plays and looks forward to making forward Amare Stoudemire a better player.
There have been questions about whether O'Neal was a good fit in Phoenix, particularly since he has struggled with injuries. However, the 2-meters, 15-centimeter tall O'Neal passed a physical and hopes to play before the All-Star break February 17th.
O'Neal, who turns 36 next month, has made it clear he wants to win another championship. The Suns have never won an NBA title, but O'Neal helped bring the championship to Miami. He also helped lead the Los Angeles Lakers to three titles in a row between 2000 and 2002. However, Miami is currently the worst team in the league (9-38) and is in the midst of rebuilding its program.
During his 16-year NBA career, O'Neal has averaged more than 25 points and 11 rebounds per game. However, this season his numbers dropped to just over 14 points a game. For the first time in 14 years, O'Neal was not voted onto the All-Star team.
