German police say a passenger smoking a cigarette in the toilet caused
a tour bus to catch fire on a highway near Hannover, killing 20 elderly
travelers.
It is the worst bus accident in Germany in years.
Police say one of the passengers apparently failed to completely put out the cigarette in the bus toilet.
The
driver managed to pull the bus off the road, but most of the passengers
were unable to escape before the vehicle was engulfed in flames.
