At Least 25 Killed in Ghana Explosion

Witnesses in Ghana say at least 25 people have been killed in the explosion of a tanker truck carrying fuel.

At least 20 others were injured, some critically, when the truck caught fire and exploded after crashing Wednesday near the central town of Techiman, 400 kilometers northeast of the capital, Accra.

Witnesses say the victims had been trying to collect fuel that was leaking from the tanker truck.

Journalists at the scene say most of the bodies were burned beyond recognition.

Incidents of people being killed while looting fuel from vehicles or pipelines are common in West Africa.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP and Reuters.
