A non-profit environmental research institute reports that many places, especially in developing countries, are running short on clean water.
The biennial study, called "The World's Water," says Asia and Africa are facing the most serious water problems and China faces a "water catastrophe."
The Pacific Institute in the western U.S. state of California notes that the world's warming climate is having a major impact on the availability of clean water.
