Iraq Bombing Kills 7

Iraqi police said a suicide truck bomber Tuesday killed at least seven people and wounded 17 others in the northern city of Mosul.

Authorities said the bombing targeted a police station in the city's center. At least four people killed by the blast were police officers.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The bombing is the latest in a string of attacks in Iraq this month, raising fears that insurgents are trying to regroup as U.S. forces begin to draw down.

British troops moved ahead with their withdrawal Tuesday, handing over command of a base in the southern city Basra to U.S. forces in a ceremony attended by U.S. Commander Ray Odierno. All 4,000 British troops are set to leave Iraq by the end of May.

The U.S. military, in turn, has been transferring security responsibilities to the Iraqi government, with U.S. forces scheduled to withdraw from the country in 2011.
