Serbian police have disarmed a man who carried a grenade into the Belgrade headquarters of the Serbian presidency.
A spokeswoman for President Boris Tadic announced the development early Thursday evening. No details of the police action were immediately available.
Police earlier identified the man as a middle-aged bankrupt businessman.
Television footage showed a heavy security presence in the building as police pointed guns at the man and negotiators tried to persuade him to surrender.
The incident came one day after a visit to Belgrade by U.S. Vice President Joe Biden.
