IEA Urges Action on Climate Change

The International Energy Agency is urging action to reduce carbon emissions to cope with climate change.

An IEA report says without action on climate change, the world could face surging energy costs and rising carbon emissions.

The report comes as representatives from many nations prepare to gather next month in Copenhagen for talks on carbon emissions and climate change.

The IEA is an advisor to 28 mostly industrialized nations. It says an agreement limiting carbon emissions could slow the demand for fossil fuels and their damaging emissions.

The agency says limiting climate change is technically possible, but will take trillions of dollars of investment in cleaner energy sources like wind, nuclear, and solar.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP.
