Fourth seed Francesca Schiavone of Italy and Argentina's Mariana Diaz-Olivia have been eliminated from the second round of the PreCon Open tennis tournament in Basel, Switzerland.
Martina Muller of Germany defeated Schiavone in straight sets (6-2, 6-1). Diaz-Olivia lost to another German, Bianke Lamade, in straight sets (7-6, 6-2).
In first round action, Cristina Torrens-Valero of Spain, the sixth seed, defeated Ludmilia Cervanova of Slovakia in three sets (6-3, 1-6, 7-6). Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia, the seventh seed, defeated Spain's Gala Leon Garcia (6-4, 6-4). Marta Marrero of Spain beat Madagascar's Dally Randriantefy in straight sets (6-3, 6-2).
