Since arriving on the Country music scene in 1995, singer Mark Wills has made a career out of recording hit ballads. But, he shows another side of his musical tastes on his fourth and latest collection, recently released on Mercury Records, Loving Every Minute.
The Latin-flavored "Lost In A Kiss" is among 12 tracks on Mark Wills' new album "Loving Every Minute." The collection marks the singer's highest-debut ever on the Country Albums chart, where it recently entered at Number 10.
Born Daryl Mark Williams in Cleveland, Tennessee, he left for Atlanta, Georgia, at 17 to pursue his dream in Country music. Five years later, in 1995, Mark was signed to Mercury Records.
Over the past six years, he has recorded a string of Top 10 hits, including "Jacob's Ladder", "Wish You Were Here", and "Back At One." Mark's career hit a new level in 1999, when he was named Top New Male Vocalist by the Academy of Country Music.
Wills says he spent extra time choosing songs for his latest album. Fans asked for more uptempo songs, so he delivered. But, there's still a number of power ballads, including this duet with newcomer Jamie O'Neal, "I'm Not Gonna Do Anything Without You."
Like so many of today's popular Country artists, Mark Wills has been named in the controversy between traditional and pop-oriented Country sounds. His view is that fans should ultimately decide which they prefer to listen to.
When Mark isn't busy with his career, there's a good chance you'll find him on a golf course. This summer, he shot his first hole-in-one. That golf ball is now mounted in his trophy case.
Mark will spend the coming months performing concerts throughout North America in support of his new CD.
