Austrian slalom skier Karin Koellerer has announced her retirement from the slopes after a 13-year career on the World Cup circuit.
Koellerer is expecting her first child with former World Cup skier Atle Skaardal of Norway. Her best finish was a second place result last year in a World Cup slalom in Flachau, Austria.
The 29-year-old Austrian said over the last few months her baby has been telling her that she needed to stop racing. Austrian Ski Federation Sports Director Hans Pum said she was an important member of the national side, offering valuable support for younger team members.
