German skier Ronny Ackermann has won the World Cup Nordic Combined sprint event in Reit Im Winkl, Germany, and strengthened his overall lead.
Ackermann was second in the ski jumping portion with a leap of 121-meters, 50 centimeters. Jaakko Tallus of Finland won the ski jumping with 128 meters and started the 7.5 kilometer cross-country race 24 seconds ahead of Ackermann.
However, the German made up the difference with strong skiing, finishing in 18 minutes, 57-point-four seconds. Felix Gottwald of Austria was second, three-10ths of one-second back. Samppa Lajunen of Finland was third. Ackermann leads the overall World Cup standings with 1,110 points. Gottwald is second, 50-points back.
