Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld says he believes fugitive al-Qaida terrorist leader Osama bin Laden is still in Afghanistan along with Taleban leader Mullah Mohamed Omar.
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said a lot of Americans, Afghans and others are involved in the search. He tells reporters at the Pentagon that search remains centered on Afghanistan though some other unspecified locations are also being checked.
"We still believe they're in the country. We're still working on that basis, although we are looking at some other places as well, from time to time," he said.
Mr. Rumsfeld again stresses the capture of bin Laden and Mullah Omar is not the main goal of the U.S. war on terrorism.
But he has said no one should doubt that U.S. authorities want to catch them. He also remains confident they will be caught eventually.
