The Swedish Olympic Committee will start registering blood test results of Swedish athletes to easier identify doping violations and help honest competitors avoid suspicion.
A "blood profile" will be created for competitors in endurance sports such as cycling, cross-country skiing and long distance running, to keep a record of blood values from health records and doping controls.
The blood profiles are intended to help athletes, who normally have high blood values, show they're not using performance-enhancing drugs. The committee also hopes to eventually compile the information in so-called "blood passports" that athletes can carry to competitions.
